そして、最近作の「陪審員 2番」　なんと、95歳の時に撮られたものだという。

「12人怒れる男」のヘンリー・フォンダどころではない。

ホントに呆れるほどに傑作だらけである。

老後の楽しみにDVDすべて買って保存していると言ってもいい。

駄作がないのがホントに凄い。

結末にどれもアメリカ映画とは思えない、苦さがある点が優れている。

が、私が最も好きなのは1988年作の「バード」という作品。

ジャズアルトサックス奏者チャーリー・パーカーの音楽と生涯を描いた伝記作品である。

とはいえ、チャーリー・パーカーはそれほど好きではない（笑）

私が好きなのは、リー・コーニッツ（1950年代前半の彼のプレイは本当に凄い、鬼気迫るものがある）、

サム・リヴァース（『ストリームス〜ライヴ・アット・ザ・モントルー・ジャズ・フェスティヴァル』 – Streams (1973年、Impulse!)）、←　このアルバムが凄い。おススメ。

ブッカー・アーヴィンなどである。

「バード」の話に戻る。ラストシーンが素晴らしかった。

タイトルバックで、秋枯れたボストンかどこかの街の、小さな通りに、カメラ据え付けで、長時間長まわしで…

あれ、これは、車が動き始めて、ああこれは長まわしなんだと気づいた次第…

なんと、ゴージャスな演出か！！　と感嘆したことがある。

I’ve seen all of Clint Eastwood’s movies, both in and directed by him.

“Million Dollar Baby”

“Gran Torino”

“The Mule”

And his recent movie “Juror Number 2” – which he was 95 years old when he made it.

He’s not even close to Henry Fonda in “12 Angry Men”.

There are so many masterpieces that it’s really amazing.

I’ve bought all the DVDs and saved them for my retirement.

It’s amazing that there aren’t any duds.

They all have bitter endings that you wouldn’t expect from an American movie, which is what makes them great.

But my favorite is “Bird” from 1988.

It’s a biographical work about the life and music of jazz alto saxophonist Charlie Parker.

That being said, I don’t really like Charlie Parker (lol).

My favorites are Lee Konitz (his playing in the early 1950s was really amazing, it was intense),

Sam Rivers (Streams (1973, Impulse!)), ← this album is amazing. I recommend it.

Booker Ervin, etc.

Going back to “Bird”. The last scene was amazing.

In the title sequence, the camera was set up on a small street in Boston or some other city in the withered autumn, and it was a long take…

Oh, wait, the car started to move, and I realized it was a long take…

What a gorgeous production!! I was amazed.

少将は　海軍飛行士から予科練の初代部長を任じ　朝鮮　中国の航空司令官を経て
最後の任地　硫黄島に着任していた。

この言葉を鑑みても　死に臨んで宛てた市丸少将の文章は今もなおその光芒を放っている

アメリカ大統領・フランクリン・ルーズベルトに宛てた手紙（「ルーズベルトニ与フル書」）を残し戦後有名となる。手紙はアナポリス博物館に保管されている。なお､市丸には3人の娘がいる。

戦死状況

1945年3月26日未明、日本軍硫黄島守備隊は最後の組織的反攻を行い、栗林忠道陸軍中将、市丸海軍少将以下、数百名の残存部隊がアメリカ軍陣地へ総攻撃をかけた。

市丸少将は遺書としてアメリカ大統領フランクリン・ルーズベルトに宛てた『ルーズベルトニ与フル書』をしたため、これをハワイ生まれの日系二世三上弘文兵曹に英訳させ日本語、英語各一通を作りアメリカ軍が将校の遺体を検査することを見越してこれを村上治重大尉に渡した。

村上大尉は最後の突撃の際にこれを懐中に抱いて出撃し戦死。

『ルーズベルトニ与フル書』は目論見どおりアメリカ軍の手に渡り、7月11日、アメリカで新聞に掲載された。

それは日米戦争の責任の一端をアメリカにあるとし、ファシズムの打倒を掲げる連合国の大義名分の矛盾を突くものであった。

この映画はまさに革命的でした。これまでは、アメリカ側が日本人を「クソ野郎」として描いてきただけでした。しかし、偉大なクリント・イーストウッドという人物が、日本側の視点と戦争を通じた苦闘を描いた映画を監督・製作するという決断を下したのです。

日本が分割されなかったのは、沖縄と硫黄島と、カミカゼ、マッカーサーを心服させた昭和天皇（敗戦のご決断も昭和天皇）が大きい。

英霊たちに感謝…。
